Induction Ceremony Mass Honoring Eunice and Sargent Shriver

The Lyke House Catholic Center at the Atlanta University Center, the Cathedral of Christ The King and the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel invites you to the Oil Portrait Induction Mass Honoring Eunice Kennedy Shriver and Sargent Shriver for their contribution to International Human and Civil Rights.

This event will celebrate the remarkable contributions of Eunice and Sargent Shriver’s contributions to international human and civil rights. Particularly, Eunice established the Special Olympics, promoting human dignity, human rights and civil rights. Her husband Sargent established the Peace Corps, Job Corps and other humanitarian needs.

This Special Mass will be presided over by His Eminence Wilton Cardinal Gregory, to celebrate their Catholicity and immense contribution to international human and civil rights. It hopes to inspire young collegians to be prophetic witnesses for these essential causes in our time to stand up for civil rights, human rights and the dignity of the human person, that all humans are made in the image and likeness of God.

To make this event truly unforgettable for the Shriver family, Cardinal Gregory, and our Archdiocese, we will host a special reception at Lyke House following the Mass. We extend a heartfelt invitation to all our Shepherds, including Archbishop Gregory Hartmayer, our three Auxiliary Bishops, priests, deacons from the Atlanta area to con-celebrate the Mass. We extend special invitation to all our faithful parishioners.

The King’s International Chapel at Morehouse College has a seating capacity of approximately 2,000 people, providing a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together. With the recent announcement of Cardinal Gregory’s retirement, this event presents a perfect occasion for us to express our profound love and appreciation for his dedicated service. Join us in celebrating this significant milestone in our shared history!
