The Lyke House Catholic Center at the Atlanta University Center, the Cathedral of Christ The King and the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel hosted the Oil Portrait Induction Mass Honoring Eunice Kennedy Shriver and Sargent Shriver for their contribution to International Human and Civil Rights.
This event celebrated the remarkable contributions of Eunice and Sargent Shriver’s to international human and civil rights. Particularly, Eunice established the Special Olympics, promoting human dignity, human rights and civil rights. Her husband Sargent established the Peace Corps, Job Corps and other humanitarian needs.
This Special Mass was presided over by His Eminence Wilton Cardinal Gregory, to celebrate their Catholicity and immense contribution to international human and civil rights. It hopes to inspire young collegians to be prophetic witnesses for these essential causes in our time to stand up for civil rights, human rights and the dignity of the human person, that all humans are made in the image and likeness of God.
